Nikola Dietrich is an art historian and curator and has been director of the Kölnischer Kunstverein since July 2018, where she has realised numerous exhibitions: including with Julien Ceccaldi, Bea Feitler, Jay Chung and Q Takeki Maeda, Tony Conrad and Genoveva Filipovic” as well as the exhibition “Masculinities” - a cooperation between the Bonner Kunstverein and the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf. From 2008 to 2013, she was chief curator at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Basel. There she showed survey exhibitions of Henrik Olesen, Hilary Llyod, Rodney Graham, Monica Bonvicini / Tom Burr, Tim Rollins & K.O.S., Robert Gober and the exhibition “Tell it to my heart. Collected by Julie Ault”. She was also co-curator of the exhibition space Elaine, the project space of the Museum of Contemporary Art, which existed from 2011 to 2013. From 2004 to 2007, she was curator at Portikus in Frankfurt am Main, where she was responsible for a number of exhibitions, including projects with Francis Alys, John Baldessari, Judith Hopf, Paulina Olowska and Bonnie Camplin. From 2003 to 2004 she was curator in René Block’s Curatorial Workshop at the Fridericianum in Kassel. Dietrich has published widely and since 2014 has co-edited Starship magazine, which is published in Berlin.
