The Bow Ties: Night at the Museum

Sergei Tcherepnin and Jessie Stead present an audio/visual deconstruction of the classic “Night At The Museum” theme interweaving composed electronic music and spontaneous improvisations in a satirical tour through western art history’s most hyped-up portrait paintings.

Sergei Tcherepnin is an artist operating at the intersections of music, sculpture and performance. His performances and installations include the Museum der Moderne, Salzburg; Overduin & Co., Los Angeles; Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Roulette, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Pavilion of Georgia at the 55th Venice Biennale; Murray Guy, New York; the Kitchen, New York; Yvon Lambert, Paris; Karma International, Zurich; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; and the 30th São Paulo Biennial. He was a Villa Romana Fellow in 2014.

Jessie Stead works in overlapping patterns of installation, music, cinema, text, collaboration and performance. Her cross-disciplined work has been presented widely in varied platforms, recent solo and two-person exhibitions include Jennys, New York; Ciccio, New York; OCDChinatown, New York; Jan Kaps, Cologne and 247365, New York. Collaborative projects, group exhibitions and performances include the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw; Fridericianum, Kassel; the Institute of Contemporary Art Philadelphia, and Performa 13, New York. Stead’s earlier cinematic work has screened at The London Film Festival, the New York Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, New York, MoCAD, Detroit, and at MoMA PS1.
