Dyr á Túfu (Tiere auf Grasshockern)
10.09. – 22.10.2006
As part of the German-Icelandic Cultural Days, the Kunstverein Bremerhaven is showing a group exhibition of Icelandic artists in the Kunsthalle. Art from Iceland is no longer an exception. Artists in music and the visual arts have long since achieved world fame and live in New York, Amsterdam or Berlin. But what about the artists in Iceland itself? Is there a specific Icelandic art? The art association has investigated this question and is presenting works by the artists Helgi Thorgils Fridjónsson, Ólöf Nordal, Helgi Hjaltalín Eyjólfsson, Birgir Snaebjörn Birgisson and Katrin Sigurdardóttir. These are artists who still mostly live in Iceland today. A number of the works are therefore being shown in Germany for the first time.
