Edition Tauchfahrten: Bremerhaven - New York
17.01. – 18.01.2009

The art project “Edition Tauchfahrten: Bremerhaven - New York” was launched in March 2007. Under the direction of the Melton Prior Institute based in Düsseldorf and the curatorial supervision of Klaus Becké from the board of the Kunstverein, the Canadian artist Susan Turcot, the Hamburg-based illustrator and sculptor Stephan Mörsch, the Uruguayan conceptual artist Luis Camnitzer living in New York, the New York-based comic artist and playwright Ben Katchor, the Kiel-born artist Birgit Jensen, the Berlin-based painter and illustrator Dierk Schmidt, the illustrator and sculptor Andreas Siekmann, the Bremen-based artist Bogdan Hofmann, the Düsseldorf artist Paul Schwer and the illustrator Alexander Roob explored the special relationship between Bremerhaven and New York. They recorded their impressions using classic techniques such as etching and lithography, as well as digital printing and combination processes. The result is a remarkable portfolio with ten graphic works that focus on the location of Bremerhaven in general and the migration route from Bremerhaven to New York in particular. The portfolio - unique in its kind - is available for purchase. Before being distributed nationwide, the freshly printed works will be presented in the Kunsthalle.
