Norbert Schwontkowski
"dass ich ein Maler war"
27.07 – 29.09.2013

In honor of the internationally active Bremen painter who died in June, the Kunsthalle Bremen, the Weserburg | Museum for Modern Art, the Study Center for Artist Publications, the Karin and Uwe Hollweg Foundation and the Kunstverein Bremerhaven are showing a selection of works from their respective collections and loans from private collections.

Norbert Schwontkowski has exhibited in Bremerhaven several times. The Kunstverein Bremerhaven showed his work early on. In 1993, on the occasion of the award of the State of Bremen’s Art Prize, he was given a solo exhibition in the Kunsthalle. This was followed by exhibitions in the Paul Gallery and in the Kabinett für aktuelle Kunst. Since 2008, he has had his own room in the Kunstmuseum Bremerhaven. In 2011, the multitude of his works in the Kunsthalle filled an entire hall wall on the occasion of the anniversary exhibition “Bremerhaven Collects”.
