Axel Lieber

Oversized tables or scaled-down chests of drawers, skeleton cabinets without surfaces and staged contents. Axel Lieber, born in Düsseldorf in 1960, plays with the expectations of volume and mass. He uses the material objects of the exhibition environment to shape them into previously unimagined appearances. Reiner Ruthenbeck once turned an overturned chair into a spatial object. Axel Lieber, who has been a lecturer at the Malmö Art Academy since 1995, playfully continues this tradition.
