Palermo
Druckgraphik u. multiplizierte Objekte
05.01. – 09.02.2003

Even 25 years after his death, the works of Peter Heisterkamp, better known under the name “Palermo”, do not seem outdated. They have lost none of the radicalness through reduction in the understanding of art that made Palermo a well-known artist during his lifetime. His graphic work has the character of an “oeuvre catalogue” that encompasses the content of his work. In Bremerhaven, where Palermo was exhibited early on, namely in 1969, 1970 and 1971 in the Kabinett für Aktuelle Kunst and in 1980 in the Kunsthalle, there are at least around 25 different works. They are mainly in private collections. Two works are owned by the Kunstverein. Some of these works are brought together in the exhibition. The exhibition thus offers a good opportunity to get closer to Palermo’s work.
